How to Prepare for your Newborn Photo session | Knoxville Newborn Photographer
Preparing for your newborn photography session doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With a little planning, your session can be calm, relaxing, and enjoyable for the entire family.
The first step is booking your Knoxville newborn photographer during pregnancy. Most newborn photographers in Knoxville reserve sessions based on your due date to ensure availability once baby arrives.
A couple days before your Knoxville newborn photo session, you will want to eat a bland diet if you are breastfeeding. This will help ensure baby does not get gassy at the time of the newborn photo session. Removing/ limiting foods such as spicy foods, onions, garlic, and broccoli are a good place to start.
On the day of your newborn photo session, keeping your baby awake for a short period before arriving can help encourage sleepy poses during the session. Feeding your baby right before photos also helps keep them calm and content.
For clothing, I have baby covered. We have a variety of newborn outfits for those sweet moments. For the rest of the family, simple and neutral outfits photograph beautifully. Soft creams, whites, beige tones, and light textures create timeless family portraits that won’t feel dated years from now.
Parents often worry that their baby may cry or need frequent breaks, but this is completely normal. Professional newborn sessions are designed around your baby’s needs, allowing time for feeding, comforting, and soothing throughout the photography session.
At my studio, I provide wraps, blankets, headbands, and props for your newborn photo session, making the process even easier for parents.
If siblings are participating, preparing them ahead of time with snacks and simple expectations can help create smoother family portraits.
Most importantly, relax and trust the process. Newborn photo sessions are intentionally slow-paced to ensure your baby stays safe and comfortable while creating beautiful portraits your family will treasure forever.
